The New Mansfield Republican Town Committee Aims to:
“Make Mansfield Better Together.”
The new Mansfield Republican Town Committee is headed by a team of reasoned Mansfield Republicans. Many of our members have called Mansfield home for many years and some of our members come from families who have lived in Mansfield for generations. We appreciate all our neighbors, and we want to see our conservative values help our town leadership make Mansfield better together.
Over the years, a number of Mansfield Republican Town Committee leaders, officeholders, and others, came to believe that their role was to find fault, complain, and obstruct. They sometimes pursued minor issues to exaggerate and exploit to attempt to influence residents by creating anger and discontent. Sometimes they even elevated phony issues. The town’s Republican leadership is different now.
While this behavior may still be occurring within our Town and State, with individuals having both “Rs” and “Ds” after their names, in Mansfield, the Republican Town Committee has said, “No, This does not make Mansfield a better place to live”. Does that mean we will ignore or acquiesce to issues we find disconcerting? Absolutely not! But we will approach those issues honestly, with integrity and transparency, in a civil and unifying way. We have started rebuilding the Mansfield Republican Town Committee and will establish goals and objectives that positively outline our virtues and ideals.
We are just getting started. Real success will manifest when the members of the Town Council, and members of the many supporting committees, function without a thought of political party. That will only occur when we all stop seeking differences to exploit and instead seek areas of agreement and ways to move ahead productively.
A great number of our members voluntarily give their time participating on the numerous town committees that strive to make Mansfield better together. They seek solutions to identified concerns, bringing their thoughtful conservative views to the discussions. We value and enjoy our interaction with all our neighbors.
Our decision to go back to our roots and rebuild the Mansfield Republican party did not come without some disagreement within our ranks. In fact, at least one member decided to quit the MRTC and the Party. But I believe that Mansfield, the MRTC, and the Republican Party are better served when its members do not sensationally promote inaccurate information and intentionally create discord.
In the upcoming November election, we will not endorse individuals who do not share our views and ideals even if he or she has an “R” after their name. We value experience. We value integrity. We value teamwork, and we value a positive approach. When one newly-registered Republican recently sought the Mansfield Republican Town Committee’s endorsement for the CT House of Representatives 54th district, our members voted overwhelmingly not to endorse. The Mansfield Republican Town Committee plans to provide additional guidance on candidates as the November election approaches.
Over one thousand registered Republicans live in Mansfield. If you are among this number, if you agree with our ideals, and if you wish to join us in representing the traditional, conservative views of Mansfield Republicans, please contact us at the email below or just come to one of our meetings. They are announced on our Facebook page each month. We are always eager to have thoughtful and reasoned Mansfield Republicans become more involved.
I look forward to hearing from you,
G. William “Bill” Tomecko Jr.
Chairman, Mansfield Republican Town Committee
